After the LA fires in January, my partner sent me this article from the New York Times (link below) written by Corina Knoll, profiling a diner in Altadena, California: the "Little red Hen Coffee Shop", owned by Barbara Shay. After reading the article I found that there was a gofundme for rebuilding the coffee shop, started by the owner and her family, and I just wondered what I could do from all the way up here. The effect of the fires on communities and businesses is heartbreaking, and I hope this little gesture will help in some small way to bring back an important local gathering point in this community and support this black-owned restaurant get back on their feet.
